My latest restoration project.....tri-z

Just picked up this neglected 85 Tri-Z for my next project. Off to E-bay I go................... :-P

With a bunch of haggling, I finally got him to trade. He got 2 .22 rifles and I got the Z! ;)

In my local area (so. Oregon) There is a 85 Z for sale for $750. Claims only 10 hours on a new motor with paddles and some other stuff. If anybody is interested I can get a phone number for you.

It's amazing what a little scraping and wet sanding will do to sun faded fenders. Now, if I can just get rid of that ugly a#@ seat cover.........

I bought a Tri Z that was in similar condition to yours. Mine however was all in pieces and in boxes.

that looks awesome, looks like you did more then just sand the fenders. did you tear it down totaly or just paint the easier stuff?

Would you mind telling us how you did the sanding process? I have been using a razor blade to scrape away the glazed and fadded stuff and then using sandpaper. This is too much work and taking way too long. Also what did you do to get the shine back?

when I got my ytm 200 the fenders were faded just as thos on the tri-Z
I took green scratcher pads (a lot of em ) and w/d40 sparyed the wd 40 on and rubbed like mad came out nice ,I would rather have that tri-Z though nice find and good job on them fenders,oh yea I forgot I also washed after all the wd 40 and rubbing and waxed it

Well, I bought another complete bike for parts. I used the fenders off the parts bike and also the rear rims. It's getting close to time to strip it down and carry the frame to the powder coating place. Just a few more things to get and it ought to look pretty good. Better watch out Waterpumper, I'll be coming for ya! Better get that big green booger of yours tuned up! LOL!

I hate to bust yer bubble,,,, "catfisheater" ,,,,but the only reason waterpumper would have to worry is if he forgot to install piston rings or something drastic like that! LMFAO!!!
