My 250sx had the starter working really well until snow melt.
Until then , the starter relay(called solenoid i think) started to make a clicking sound when i hit the e-starter button.
I dont know whats causing it(im not an electrical guy).
maybe water got over it and created bad contacts?
still start great with kickstart but it gets annoying over time when you know e-start could work.
how could i clean the contact or seal them from water?

Have you made sure the battery is good?

I've noticed this on my Big Red 250. Sometimes it will spin the starter, other times will just click. I know my battery is good because I can take it out and start my quad with it no problem.

Jump the two posts on the selenoid, if it wings right over,...the batt is good, bad selenoid. If it does the same thing, prob a weak batt

happened with mine a while back. check your connections cause if its clicking then the solenoid itself is making contact but the power isnt getting to the starter so check the wiring from the solenoid to your starter

It can be a sign of low current, due to either some corroded cable or connection. If you can, run jumper cables directly to the starter and see if it cranks over. If so, then you know the starter is good.

bad battery- test with diff battery
bad silinoid- test by bypassing it
bad starter- kinda last resort, if everything else is good then try tapping starter with a hammer while e-button is pressed and see if it starts to crank over. if so then its bad.
weak connection- look around for corrosion and probe around with multi metor

take the starter apart and clean/rebuild fairly simple and takes about 15min

today i went to clean the connection on the solenoid
positive one seemed pretty rusty so i cleaned it
others where alright
pluged that back up, it was still clicking!!!!
so i followed twitch101 suggestion
i looked at the connection between the starter and the wire going to the solenoid
everything was really clean
i still took it apart, wire brushed it put it back up
hit the starter button.... the beast roared
i was shocked lol
twitch was right
thanks guys for all sugestions!!!

yeah i wish you good luck
hopefully it will be as eazy as i said
i think that in fact, the ''washer tip'' of the connection was lose on the bolt causing it to have a bad contact
maybe only the nuts squeazing it were getting contact and the threaded part (which transfer the current to the starter) wasnt getting any energy

Dirty connections do it all the time!!
