I put a set of 18 inch fast trekkers on my tecate with 13-42 gearing and I'm hammering through the gears too fast. What gearing are you guys running with 18's? Was thinking of dropping the front to a 12t? Also, anyone know where I can get a brake pedal spring?

I had the same problem even with 13-40, but my Tecate is built for 300 ft drag racing! I went down to 13-37....its perfect for what I want now! First gear is still useless. Sprocket Specialist with make any size sprocket you want! A couple of my buddies run a 13-38!

Check out this gearing calculator to help you get your gearing back to where you want it. From what I can see, going to 14-37 with 18" tires will get you back close to where your Tecate started with the factory 22" tires and 13-42 gearing. Remember, adding teeth(diameter) to the front or reducing the count(again...diameter) on the rear gears you up(or "taller").

You're going to want a bigger counter shaft sprocket, not a smaller one. If you drop to a 12t, you're going to row through the gears even faster. I run 15/42 with my 20's and I have both a 38 and 36 rear sprockets for the 18's.

Right on, was thinking backwards on the gearing. I'm gonna give 14-36 a shot. Thanks for the help guys.

That thread is worth it's weight in gold, I look at it often!
