This 1985 ATC250R has sat since 1990 - I felt it was a good time to put in a new waterpump seal - or should I just try it as is and watch it??. Anyhow I haven't seen too many posts on this repair so I assume that HONDA designed it pretty good? Any tips or things to be aware of or extremely careful of when doing this repair? Do they just pop right in and then the seal? Any grease on the ceramic or anything?? I couldn't really get the thin metal plate of of the housing - so I left it for now. I have a manual but experience is always the best help.

The kickstart slips so the cover has to come off anyhow - I just haven't really seen any 250R waterpump posts on here  Please share your horror stories with me.
