found out 1 big crack on each of my fork on my 85 250sx that i bought about 2-3 months ago
went to drain old oil... nothing!
every parts of the forks seems real good except for the sliders
would JB Weld be a good option if i dont want to spend much money on this trike( damn school ate it all)?
what should i do to make it stick better to the aluminium sliders?

if possible use a real welder (Mig/Tig) will do a better and more reliable job.

Its not that hard to weld aluminum, if one has had a bit of time invested into using a tig... JB weld is junk... Especially in a point like that where it will be under pressure. You would be lucky to get them to hang together to the end of the driveway with JB. (imo) I would pop the sliders off and take them to a welding shop... Probably only charge you 20-30 bucks to tig them up...

you realy need to find another set. even if you get it to hold it is going to ruin the new sliders.

Maybe someone let them fill with water and freeze?? In any event, I think they are fubared and should go in the trash. You can't be having your front forks snap off on someone driving your trike. There can't be any more serious part of the vehicle than the front wheel. Maybe they could be welded, but I'd think no shop with any sense of preservation of life would touch repairing them. They could be weak and damaged beyond the visable crack.
Keep watching ebay, there are front forks on there from time to time. People do ship to Canada. I bought a rear shock assembly and the shipping was around $45 to get it here. A couple of sliders would be lighter than a rear shock and spring and resevoir.

I don't see the issue as making those sliders hold oil. I see the issue as whether they have such a serious structural defect now as to be a point of catastrophic failure. You do not want your front forks snapping off.

i have to agree with grizzlypeg, i have never seen that, something serious took place to crack those lowers like that, i would search for a decent used set for sure.. I had a freind die from losing the front wheel on a quad!! nothing to mess around with.

One thing i will tell you is i have run a machine shop for a few years now and i know a ton of guys around here that have their own shops as well. None of the guys that i know around here would try to weld it. The liability is huge. I have done things like this for friends but i wouldnt for someone off the street. If you do decide to go that route you may have a hard time finding a shop that will do it.
