86 Bigred devolped a problem yesterday. You can put around on it all you want but, after wide open throttle for length of time it stops running, then it will fire back again a minute later?
Any hints or clues??

I'd try to rule out fuel starvation. If the tank's vent, petcock or screen can only allow limited fuel flow owing to some blockage, when you run wot it runs the float bowl dry. Check out all of these items.

check the plug, black = rich, white/gray = lean youre looking to have it a golden brown color. Id say your carb just needs a good cleaning

My first thoughts were fuel starvation the carb has been recently taken apart and cleaned when I first purchased it. I didn't have the time to dig into it before I had to go work were I am wasting time now :D
I'm thinking I may have not cleaned the tank well enough and have some shmoots. I normally put an in line filter in as soon as I get a new toy but didn't on this one yet.

1.) BLACK/BROWN PLUG IS FOULED. Brown is NOT ideal, its fouled allowing the spark to arc down the side of the insulator. the plug MUSt be grey/ white.
2.) If its not badly fouled, start and warm the engine on an old plug, shut it down, QUICKLY change plug, ride at WOT or close and quickly shut the engine off, remove the plug and read it.

for my cap vent, off is off and on is OFF so between on and off is on.
same gd thing with my fuel pet.
reserve is off, on is on and reserve is between wherever its supposed to be
also had some semisubmersible lump of crud that would plug the sediment bowl when the fuel stream was steady
