Breaking loose the screws on a honda 70 engine

could try putting a regular screw driver on it and give it a few lil love taps wit a hammer then try it. i have had to do that before or use a small bit same as the screw the give it some love taps and put a socket on the bit and try it thats the one i would try first though i had to do it on m 200x hope that works for ya if you try it

Those look like a DREAM to unscrew compared to some of the ones I've had to deal with!

I think you should invest in an impact wrench if you're going to do much work on these old machines... they are a life saver!

soak them in Pb or liquid wrench and try what yooperman said.

I think you can buy them pretty cheaply at Harbor Freight. The kind you hold in your hand and strike with a mallet. I've had mine for 30 years now and its still going strong. Without that force pressing the bit into the phillips screw, the torque will just marr the screw head.

I've had good luck using a phillips drill bit in a 1/4" socket. Then you can use a ratchet to get some good turning torque.

Put all your weight on it!!

Also try a #3 phillips bit... probably grip better

I use an impact gun with the aitr turned down so it just lightly hammers on it.

Listen to what grizzlypeg said. Get your self a cheapo manual impact driver from Harbor Freight- it's got an anvil type end on it for smacking with a mallet, and it will unscrew the worst case bolts, trust me/us, it works.

Also try a #3 phillips bit... probably grip better

yeah imgonna have to deal with that kinda nightmare when i get home to take off my header pipe cause the previous owner either broke the the exhust stud or lostthebold cause there is a phillips screw in there and it is all rusted to hell so i hope it comes ut with ease and not make a real head ache for me i just dnt like having a screw in there
