Hi guys, this has been plaguing me for a few years now. I could never figure out why my headlight is so dim, regardless if I have it on high or low beam. The light runs off of a magneto (I suppose) because when I give it some throttle it brightens up a tad, not much, just a tad. It's like having a flashlight with half-dead batteries.

My dad has a '83 ATC 200 and his light is far brighter than mine and his trike is nearly identical (both are pull start, no batteries). What could be the cause of the dimness?

I would personally stick to the simple meta-theoretical principle that entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity. Thus the simplest answer is usually the right one.

-=-=Change your bulb-=-=-

If you get no dice on that try looking at the connections of your wires, there might be something loose or corroded.

I suppose you are right with stick to simple first. Aren't these lights sealed beams? Where could I find replacements?
