So I got a half decent deal on a 1985 tecate 3. I know lots about the 250r`s but not very much about the tecate 3`s. So my question is what interchanges and mods can you do to a 1985 tecate 3? I will mention that I`ve already got a wiseco piston, mild port job, hot rod crank, boysen reeds, and an aftermarket exhaust.(not sure what the pipe is, but silencer is DG) Thanks very much!!

KX cylinder, good upgrade for more HP. good set of clutches. extended swinger for more stability.

o.k what about a different stator and flywheel assy. Is there any inner roter type magnetos that you can bolt on?

As far as the inner rotor goes.....I have a PVL on mine, thats your only option! KX250 ignitiion set up is also a great upgrade, that includes changing the flywheel, stator, and CDI!

83/4 kx 250 cylinder, kx ignition, 83-87 i think work, get a better pipe, go with a bigger carb and k&n filter, you got a rocket. get yourself a +2 swinger to help keep the front down, some wheelspacers to widen it since not alot of extended axles are out there, maybe some progressive springs in the forks, and a better shock out back like a 300ex, which is ok. but id rather have something adjustable like a raptor shock.

PVL ignitions came be located at Penton Racing! They make them for the Tecate's and is an inner rotor set up....I went with one this winter and couldnt be more pleased with it! Its easy to install, however it needs to be mounted securely to the frame with limited vibration! I fabricated a custiom tab just under cross tube on the frame!

Round slide Mic's work well for all around riding, though some people will tell you they're junk. For a more performance oriented application where upper h.p. is the main objective. Keihin PWK series carbs work very well. 38's will give you a bit more snap off the bottom, where a 39 is a bit different on the intake side for a stronger top end. But remember, just adding a carb doesn't make an engine fast, or reliable. Hey Scoot, how are those Tecates you have running. Been waiting to hear some feedback for a long time.....Gonna make TF?
