Im gonna be getting a plastic tank for my 350x soon, and i dont want it to turn yellow because of the gas, i heard somewhere that kreem will keep it from turning yellow, but i dont know how it works, any one know, any one ever try it? thanks

im not sure about it keeping it from turning yellow, but its a 3 part system that you get from any motorycle dealership. its just a coating that you shake around in the tank to stop the tank from leaking. so it might just work. its also white in color

Yeah i heard it makes another layer of protection in the tank or something like that.

kreem is a 3 part system but the first two parts would not applly to a new plastic tank. the first part etches the metal, the second part rinses out the residu from the first part the third part is the actuall cream. the first part would eat the plastic. i definatly would not recomend it on a used plastic tank and personally would not use it on any plastic tank. i don't beleive it would adhere properlly to the plastic and would eventually flake off.

Then how would i keep a plastic tank from turning yellowish brown from the gas?

I guess it would be less of a hassle to just pay the extra $250 bucks for a factory $420 dollar metal tank. :?

The tank isn't going to turn yellow over night. I had a clear tank on one of my old sleds and it's had gas in it for over a year and it was only slighly yellow. The main cause of lighter colored plastic tanks turning colors is uv damage from the sun, if you don't store your trike out doors you should be fine. Using octane boosters also turns tanks colors faster.

read your same post at org

I know from experience it will not flake off, and it will adhere to plastic for a long time.

3 years and counting so far.

Youre using kreem in your plastic tank? has it turned an ugly color yet?

My tank is black, and no matter what color it was, it would not change. Kreem fills all those little holes that lets the tank breathe.

So with the tank not being able to breath, stickers can go it without bubbling? How much does kreems cost?

the 3 part kit costs about 27 to 30 dollars

Dont get the 3 part kit.. you will not need it on a plastic tank.. Look in your Dennis Kirk, they have kreem that sells the stuff by itself. Its about $14 and yes you can put stickers on also. Just leave the holes in your gas cap open, and that is plenty of breathing room for your trike.

You might show me up, but I haven't seen a good looking plastic gas tank, they always seem to stick out and dont match the color of the machine.

Kreem is not to be used on plastic. Read the directions.

I wish you people who have no idea, and have never tried, would STFU!!!

Kreem WILL work on plastic. Like I said before, 3 years and counting.....

www.por15.com also makes a sealer for tanks, but I'm not sure how well it works with plastic.

Oh Im not mad, I was trying to get a point across.

This forum is cluttered with know it alls and monday morning quarterbacks.. I dont stick my nose in subjects I know very little about, so I guess I just with others would do the same. Its simple and common courtesy... something people lack on the internet.

i had a 77 yamaha motorcycle that i used Kreem on. Kind of a p.i.t.a if you ask me. Once you put the actual cream in the tank you have to keep it turning so it doesnt pool in one spot. I dont think i would use it again. my 84 big red has a red plastic tank on it with no discoloring yet and ive spilled gas all over that thing numerous times.
