Putting my swing arm back and book says 12-14 ft lbs on right side pivot bolt. All I have is a 17mm allen wrench about a foot long. I snugged it up pretty good but I notice there is some thread showing on the other side where it threads through, is that too tight? I tore it apart a couple weeks ago so I kinda forgot what it looked like together(had to wait for parts to get here.

did you have to use a special tool to remove a lock nut? I'm getting ready to pull the swing arm off on my 250es and seen it said something about a lock nut wrench? I haven't looked at mine to even know what it might look like...wondered where I could pick up one of these specialty tools at? and if I really did have to have one.

i posted this ? a few weeks back, and never got a response. I would think that there would have to be some threads visible on the back side. I just barely snugged mine up, and it shows threads on the back!! I did overtighten it pretty good the first time though. Cheap 1/2 inch harbor freight torque wrench did not work when set to such a light torque!!! Just kept on cranking it in before i realized!! Big skip, you can get it apart without the tool, but you risk beating up the locknut. Lots of people have made crude+refined tools for this task.

That looks like a similar tool I made to remove a nut on my polaris x-plorer a few years back, but the nut I took off was out in the open where I could easily mark a piece of pipe so I could dremel away the excess to leave the castles.....What is the diameter of this nut?
