i picked up a atc 70 frame from a fellow member and was kinda curious about any frame mods people have done to the stock frames to help make them stronger i know i seen mention of a thread that will be started soon by some one about re-tubing the frames but figured that since there's a couple of mad 70's running around and adults riding them some flexing and breakage has happened and of course i would like to prevent this from happening under my girth
ps. thanks for any thoughts and if pic's are available please post

Most of us [mad 70s] don't brace the frames, we flat track them so we really don't need to, some of the guys add a couple inches to them for some extra room, and if they get bent we just heat, twist, and beat them back and weld them up or get another frame, the tank and plastic hide the ugly stuff with a little spray bomb to help blend it in

The 70 frames are strong in the rear end. The only problem I encountered with mega HP is the ATC70 rubber sprocket cushions wearing out.
With a little bit of work you can bolt in a 90/110 bearing carrier and axle assembly into the 70 frame. The advantage is bigger, stronger bearings, bolt-on sprockets and wider, stronger axle.

Most of the time if we have trouble the frames [chopper out] :wondering the rake gets all messed up, the frames crack or break where the neck [round tubing] comes out of the back of the frame, we just put it back in place and weld it or plate it with an L shaped brace or both, one of the guys uses the 73 74 style frames and has had some trouble but they were pretty ruff to start with, frames are easy to find and cheap around here its the tank and seat that are the hard parts to find good ones :D
