ive got an 86 200x that i want to completely restore, but make it stupid fast, any suggestions or tips? and i read a thumb throttle opens the carb faster, i switched to a twist having grown up on dirtbikes the thumb was too weird , does this affect performance? any tips or advice is greatly appreciated thank you and long lice the trike!

As long as the cable is adjusted properly there are no gains with thumb or twist, it is just prefrence.

As far as making it fast, there are things you can do but in the end it is just a 200x.

What do you consider fast? 300' drags? Top speed? Where I'm at we race 6-800' sand drags up steep mountains of sand. I love my 86 200x but it would never be fast in that regard.

Higher comp piston, megacycle cam and valve springs, good carb-intake-exhaust mods would get some more power out of it, then gearing to match what you like to do.

here is a good thread of DC 200x build... http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?84010-DC-s-20-Day-86ATC200X-TF08-BUILD!!-84R-DURABLUE-INSTALLED-I-DID-A-DEEPA!!!!!&highlight=

I like the 1/4 turn twist throttle I put on my 90.. Goes full throttle a lot quicker.

fresh rebuild through out...meaning everything, tight tolerances on the bore and piston, tight bearings, good oil, timing correct....alot of minor details...new air filter, jetted correctly, and then gearing will help also. currently im plus one on my driver gear, not a huge difference, but deff. noticable
