Decided to really work on my basketcase 125m today. Got a new plug, checked flywheel timing, fixed the rusted up spark advance mechanism, but noticed the starter couldnt spin the engine and seemed awfully tight to turn by hand. Removed the right side engine cover and some idiot was already in there. Found a broken clutch release arm, and a broken off bolt in the clutch drum. Who knows what else is screwed up. Guess it's time to sell it as I didnt think it was gonna be this much work. And just to think I trade a nice working 6000w generator straight across for this! :wondering

Everyone says Hondas are bulletproof, and I mostly agree. But I have two 125m's, both with broken gears in the transmission. The first one, some idiot had apparently beat on it so hard that the mount where the shift stopper arm was broken off. That's part of the engine casting! Naturally when I pulled it apart, I found broken gears. On the second one that I bought for parts, the shifter arm was broken where it turns the drum, and it also had broken gears. Looking online for parts, it seems like I saw a fair number of 125m's with transmission problems. Right now I'm a bit discouraged about mine too, and if I had it to do over, I would have passed it by. Maybe I'm not being fair to the 125m....

^ I'm not sure if mine will help..... But, I have a 85 125 motor; Apparently it only fits a couple years.....

Cheap parts if they'll work for you though............:beer

I would only sell my 125 engine if it was a melted ingot of steel, aluminum, and other metals. JK. I would sell it if it is not financially feasable or possible at that.
