ok, so my wife is away for the weekend so I brought my basketcase 125m home to work on it. i want to get the engine running to see if it's worth working on it further. I've bypassed all the wiring and switches except for what's required and I do get spark, but it seems rather weak. Cleaned the plug, checked ground wires, switched the leads that go to the coil, but same result. I got compression, but no signs of life. I finally used my old trick of an 90/10 mix of oil and gas down the carb slide hole and after many pulls on the recoil, it made some smoke, and hit maybe 3 times. It did the same thing for about 5 more pulls. The starter motor is seized, so I have to use the recoil. What would cause a weak spark? It's electronic ignition so it either works or it don't. Where can I get a new plug? There's no Honda place around me.

Weak plug... Cleaning them is marginal at best... Any local auto parts store should be able to get you whatever plug you need...

90% oil to 10% gas isn't going to fire. Hell I don't think 90%gas 10% oil will fire off. First try some ether and see what happens. Then Weak spark can be from the coil, plug wire, plug, dirty connections, weak stator, corroded or bad stator coil. Get the manual (its on here just search) and grab your voltmeter. Start with a freshly gapped new plug, and cleaning connections doesn't cost anything! Good luck.

Does battery condition matter on the 125M? Will it run without a battery or with a dead battery?
I've never had one or worked on one, I just know they have an electric start.

yes, they have a CDI magneto ignition, no battery needed. thats one of the first things I took out if my 125M before I wrecked it.
