Sometimes I see these (aluminum?) tabs on 250R front wheels.
Mine does not have them and my R is pretty original.
So, does anyone know the purpose of these and why there are only 2 and not 4?

I *think* only the 86 had those, but not sure. Their purpose baffles me,....

They aid in lining up the wheel for re-instillation. This was back when Honda's engineers cared about the mechanic.

Same dealio on the 350X and can only assume for a 86-87 200X.

I find it interesting that you say that. I always thought that Honda was very conscious of the mechanic that will inherently be spinning wrenches on these machines at some point. Then I went over Dirtcrasher's house this weekend and took a look at the placement of the sparkplug in the 400EX he was working on and I couldn't believe the lack of consideration when it came to changing the damn plug! The thing is absolutely buried in there! It's a shame that they don't care like they used to.

you should see how hard it is to get to a 300ex stock carb to choke it....or put the motor in. def not like the trikes ive owned.

Haha I rode a 300ex for about 2 years. Gotta love the choke up under your butt and the 2 hands and reaching across your body to put it into reverse.

350x's are just as bad for getting the motor in and out + choke lever

Yep. I was looking over the wife's cousin's CRF450R a couple weeks ago and I sure wouldn't want to work on that thing.
