83 big red PUll cord replacement

Any one have pic or info on how to do this with out pulling the spring out? my cord broke in the middle and I need to replace it!

You have to take all the tension off of the pully before you pull it or it's a real mess. I guess it's real hard to explain, showing would be easier, but AK to NY is a long trip to do that.....

Are these the same setups as the 110 and 185/200 pullstarters? If so, take off the top center clip and washer if it has one. Remove plate and three ratchet dogs with their springs. Then take out small spring and washer under it.

Then try to slide it out.

Just carefully take it apart. When the rope broke, all the tension on the spring unloaded, so it shouldn't be under tension anymore, which means the pulley should just slip right out.
