So i need some input on these bikes, good the bad and whatever tips you might have. I ended up paying 370 cash for this bike, needs a rear shock, seat recovered and new rubber in the rear. Even with that being said i think i made out with an awesome deal. If anyone has a rear shock for sale or any other aftermarket or oem parts i would be quite interested. I will get some new pics of the bike once iv had some time to clean it up and mount the rear tires.

any plans for the motor? take the stator cover off,, and grab hold of the flywheel and see if you feel any slight movement. If so yo may need crank bearings.. make shure its dry and Clean in there, moisture and dirt will put a strain on the stator and kill em,, take the thermastat houseing apart and take the termastat out. Looks like you missing the coil,,clean the bowl on the bottom of the fuel pump, dont over tightin it!!! only enough to make it stop drippin,,lol..a Garden hose O ring works for a replacement.Missing spring on the Brake peddle, Make shure all the bolts are in the cluch cover and snug!.. On a 86 motor you have both holes threded for a Chain saver,,I would get one on there!!!

and get a skid plate!,, looks like you live in a pretty rock area! Congrats!

Not really any plans for the motor yet, but i will take the stator off a clean it all out nicely with a wire brush. I was just going to clean the bike up nice, buy some odds and ends like the chain gaurd and rear shock. What kinda chain should i put on there? will any warrior rear shock work? he took the coil off as it was sitting outside for awhile so im going to clean it real good and put her on. Clean the carb out thouroughly and i will definitly have to tune this beast as i have had trouble doing so with two strokes in the past.

A couple years ago i have a first gen 250r and loved it. How will this compare power wise? i know that the suspension of the 86 will make for a way better ride and i am very excited to run this bike hard. Then next winter take apart and re-paint the frame the original 85 1/2 86 model red. Might throw some black plastics on it when the time comes. How is the stock expansion chamber on the 86 tri-z?

Power wise the tri z is much snappier and quicker than the first gen R. Yes, you can run any warrior shock for the rear. I have one on mine, off a 91' warrior, and I think it does good. The only thing is you have to figure out a different way to mount/fasten the resovoir at the end of the shock hose,as the hose is a little shorter than the tri z, but it can still be mounted in the intended area. I think the tri z resovoir is better quality than the warrior, because it has compression adjustments on the resovoir, where the warrior has none. They also both have the same adjustment for compression/rebound at the bottom of the shock (large philips screwdriver looking screw) The stock expansion chamber does okay on the tri z, and makes decent low/mid power. If you want a better pipe, the only new mass produced pipe is DG. I run one on mine with answer silencer It saves a LOT of weight, sounds good, and adds a little more punch all around. I would especially get rid of the stock silencer. It looks like a tank and weighs like 20 pounds! Good luck with your project, and keep us updated!
