Installing a wiseco piston on my 2 stroke tecate. The instructions said to drill holes in the side of the piston. Can anyone give me some clarification on this. Also when installing the rings, do u oil them before stabbing the piston in the cylinder?

you can oil them. i havnt i just put a lil gas in the jug. you turn the rigs till the cut side it in the middle of the pin thats in the piston squeeze then slide jug on

What about drilling the piston? U ever heard of that?

Yes, It helps lube the cyl wall and piston.

Are you running a stock Tecate cylinder, and not the kx cylinder? If you are using a Tecate cylinder, there is no need to drill relief holes in the piston. That is for other applications such as a kx cylinder where there is a bridge running down the center of the exhaust port! In that application the holes are drilled to releave heat or hot spot areas on the bridge of the exhaust! So if you are running the Tecate cylinder, dont bother with it!

I forgot to ask....is the cylinder sleeved with iron, or is it the stock nicosil plating?

Those are the intake windows! Wiseco gives instructions to drill bridge holes on the exhaust side!

Those are MASSIVE HOLES!!

Wiseco asks people to drill 2 holes where they contact the exhaust bridge ESPECIALLY on air cooled 2 strokes. I believe they are something like .080 and .375 and .625 down from the lower ring. It merely helps lubricate the exhaust bridge...... If I weren't sure, I'd call them......

Allot of guys grind that bridge back because it can become an issue..............

If you are using the Tecate cylinder, there is no need for drilling the holes as there is no bridge in the exhaust port (its an open port). Now if you have a kx cylinder where there is a (bridge) in the exhaust port, then the holes should be drilled, and thats only if the bridge on the cylinder hasn't been relieved back on the cylinder itself!
