There are a few people on here that have mentioned running a 400ex carb on your 350x and getting a little more out of it and better throttle response due to the accelerator pump. I want to know if anyone has thought about putting the edlebrock carb for the 400ex on a 350x. What do you guys think....to much?

I'm in the process of putting a FCR carb on my 350x right now. I have a remote choke cable and the hot start cable on the carb. I'm using a trx450r ignition/ light switch so I can run my hot start cable right to that and I have an aftermarket choke cable with the mount that attaches to my handlebar clamp. My carb came with a custom aluminum intake. I also an waiting on silicone hoses that will attach the carb to the custom intake and I had to order a couple button head allen screws and some different heavy duty hose clamps. I will have pictures once the whole thing is in place. It's a little tight, but a way nicer carb than the stock 85 and it all fits with the stock intake and airbox and clears the frame and the exhaust. The carb has several aftermarket bits on it as well and it came with a throttle cable to attach to the stock 350x thumb throttle. It's a pretty nice set up, but I wanted it to be really clean so I'm trying to do the install right.

Pat! Thanks for being the first and only response lol! How are things? So whats the FCR Carb your running? I have never heard of it and also i am not familiar with a hot start ? Is this better than the edelbrock carb set up or what should i go with here. Trying to do something that is waaaaay better than the stock carb that no one has done before. Grab some pics when ya can :)

Here are a couple pics. I'm just getting started learning about the FCR carbs, but it seems alot of the new bikes and quads have them so it's pretty much what's going to be available easily parts wise. I'm waiting to get a dvd of a FCR rebuild and tuning manual so I hope to learn more and there are tons of places and mods for these modern day carbs. Here's a couple pics of the FCR carb and the custom intake before I added the hot start cable and remote choke cable. I also threw in a pic of my trx450r taillight that I just added. It's pretty much a bolt on light on the existing bracket with a couple neoprene washers added. I will be adding a banjo brake light switch bolt to my rear brake master cylinder so I have a working brake light as well.

would something like this work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-TRX450R-EDELBROCK-CARBURETOR-CARB-KIT-TRX-450R-04_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem45e0d8a47dQQitemZ300 125037693QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I cant wait to see what you come up with in terms of tuning. Im sure with this carb and a 10:1 your gonna be looking gooood. That reminds me...what do you have on your x in terms of engine work? I cant remember what you have told me lol.

No real engine work as of yet, but I really am interested in the big bore kit and cam and head work. The person I got the carb set up from says the carb was pretty much jetted for a stock 350x, but we'll see. I pretty much have the same carb, but from stock bike, which would save you a ton of money. I can see if the guy I got the carb from can get another custom intake, but you have to make sure about the outlet of the carb so it can match the intake. Once my fancy silicone hose comes in and some nicer fitting intake clamps, then I'll be in business and I'll have some more pics to show you. That fcr has a accelerator pump which is really nice but it's just nicer carb technology in general. Shop around on ebay for a stock used 39mm FCR carb and you should be in business. I have some jets and such coming in too in case I need to play around with jetting.
And if you notice, that eldebrock carb is a fancy FCR carb!!!!

Edelbrocks are junk, huge waste of money. Its over $300 carb. Your carb is fine. Just take it to someone that can jet it properly. You'll pay a quarter of that and won't ever have to worry about it again.
