Well, here it is, it has no motor, but is complete otherwise. i bought it for 50 dollars and newrider3 helped me get it to my place. I will update as the build progresses. Its going to be a good all-around trike more suited for flat track. If anyone has a KX or KXT motor PM me asap. Lemme know wht you think.

www.goallballs.com will have the front swinger bearings and the rear carrier bearings. You will have to order the other bearings from kawasaki. www.bikebandit.com

yeah, the previous owner cut off the part that goes up on the tank for some reason, idiot. At least the seat says 250 other than something of smaller cc. I added a dune whip(10ft) and fixed the twist throttle. I am surprised how good the carrier bearings are, but shocked at how hammered the rest of them are. Is the KX motor the same as the Tecate? I really want to keep that DG pipe and silencer.

The 83-84 KX cylinders only are identical in theory and will bolt right on for some extra HP! Internally they are different as they have an extra boost port and a bridge seperating the exhaust port! Where as the 84-85 Tecate cylinders have an open exhaust with (1) exhaust port! Its a quick way to bolt on 5HP or so if you have a KX cylinder!

but is the KX engine a direct bolt in, or will I have to modify the frame? I am looking for either a KX or Tecate motor. I am aware of the KX cylinder upgrade, it is pretty nifty.

nice my ass, I need new bushings all around. I did some more work today on it. I put a better set of bars on it, controls, and cleaned up the plastics. They are still faded, I need a good method to get rid of the sun fade on the rear plastics and tank. Newrider tried buffing compund and it worked good, but did not have a bright appearance, it cleaned good though. Anyone have any good methods?

Do a search for 'restoring plastics', I think Billy had good luck using Mother's Mag Polish on a tank way worse than this one.

Wet sand starting with 600 all the way to 1500 grit sand paper, then buff with 3M compound with a buffing wheel. This will give it a nice shiny finish....as far as bringing the color back completely I'm not so sure. These tanks especially green tanks all went bad.....another option is to wait it out, save some cash, and buy a new tank from Clark Gas Tanks! They should be available this week according to Clark for 209.00!

P.S. I believe I followed a thread on Planettrike when I did my old tank.....it gives you a step by step process on how to do it!

Cleaned up and fixed rear brake system. BTW, the whole brake system for the Tecate is similar or exactly like the rear brake setup on a Kawasaki ninja 250. There was one at school today and the master is the same, reservoir, and I am unsure on the caliper, but the pads are the same.
