Well you will get a lot of answers that may vary.

I personally mix 32:1. Why? Cause I think these old machines were not designed very well for lubricating the crank main bearings/ rod bearings. I also like an oil that has castor in it.

I ran 40:1 AMS synthetic and a thrust washer on the small rod end broke. When I pulled the motor apart, I found no oil on the crank, inside case, ect. WOW, synthetic AMS burns so clean it leaves nothing to lubricate the things in the crankcase. That was my conclusion. Before that incident I ran Yamalube castor/ synthetic blend (and Maxima 927) for like 10 years. With Yamalube and 927, I found lots of oil in the crankcase at rebuild time.

My 84 tecate has been running on the same bore for over 20 years using Super M mixed at 32:1

Now that's a testament! Can't argue with results like that if it's been ridden much....and I assume it has been.
