just don't brake the one you have and all is good. if you have to have one i would go lonestar. if you have an 85 you need to go with the sprocket and bolts for an 86 and upgrade it so the new carrier will fit.

All aftermarket carriers are CNC cut from billet aluminum so none are really better then the next. Some companys have different features but the main carrier are all made 99%the same. Most company's pawn off there defective parts on ebay so watch what you buy. I would go direct to the company but thats me.

lonestar has cast ones for much cheeper. this one for 300EX will fit the 350X. just use the 86 sprocket and bolts.

Some of the aftermarket ones have the holes like the Lonestar one does, some of them don't. The one I got from RAD for my 85 R had basically the same hokey adjustment tabs as the stock 85 R and X ones do.

OEM is nice, probably discontinued.... And being a cast part, if it's stuck in a muddy/rusty swinger it's easy to break. Those open slots for adjusting the chain just don't cut the mustard unless the carrier is grease op with nice orings and no knucklehead ever got there paws on it......
DAMMIT has a good suggestion in one of the forums as far as getting the bearings out using some propane. Propane can't melt aluminum and is a super heat sink (heats up fast!)
Another tip is to remove the strong side (or sprocket side) 1st, then the brake side. It's thinner and easier to break; But, once that strong side is removed, you can get a straight shot at the thin side with a driver/piece of pipe - whatever.......
You can also warm your cleaned up carrier in your oven and freeze the bearings to make install easier. Not everyone has a 20 ton press.........
Someone was very unhappy with their "BOSS" carrier, I forget who and why but they didn't care for it....

Steve, I'm being lure'd in by this one. It looks like I will be changing them.
