Hey 88TC you got a pic of it?? If it comes down my way I'll let you know. Seems once someone gets a R down here I find out about it. If found I don't want a reward only to be there when the AHOLES face is grinded off by the tires. It's a nice weekend so if someones got it around here I'll see it....not too many places to ride so got a chance

Dude....that sucks!! I'm always on ebay and craigslist and I'll keeps an eye out (although they'd be pretty stupid to list it there) It's a pretty noticeable trike with the mods, should be easy to identify if seen. they may keep it on the downlow for couple months, but I'll be watching around this spring as I frequent Silver Lake and the Badlands. Hope we can recover this for you....no reward needed. P.S. That's one sweet looking tiger in the pic too.

As a past victim of a 3-wheeler theft, I feel for you man.
As was mentioned above, the good thing is there are many parts on your machine that will stand out should the thief or thieves try to unload the machine as a whole. I'll watch Ebay for any any of the parts....just in case they're dumb enough to go public.
Everyone remember that it's not hard for a low-life to remote-peddle stolen items by sending them to someone else a few states away to sell for the thief. A combination of a couple of those identifiable parts coming from any one seller could be a red-flag.

That sucks, a lot times the people that steal stuff are real stupid. Put an add on craigslist: wanted 250R, paying top dollar, no title needed. Or maybe just an add saying you want parts. I wouldn't be too surprised if they contacted you.
Sure hope you find it. Can you get an idea where they went since there's snow all around. Might be able to tell you want direction they came from or went to? Foot prints?

that sucks to hear. hopefully you get it back in good shape. i got a new dirtbike ripped off from me and unfortunately never got it back even though i found out who stole it. cops werent much help either. they actually told me i would have to steal it back if they couldnt visually see it on said thiefs premesis. later found out it was ditched in the woods and rattlecanned. sorry to hear but hopefully you have better luck than i did and if not may the thiefs crash and break their necks on it

I am always looking for parts and rides-I will for sure keep a eye out for it.I too have had a theft of a ride, years back one of my Pilots was stolen from my garage-so I know EXACTLY how you feel.If I hear or get a email from anybody with parts looking to sell I'll forward it right away.I also have some ties to law enforcement in the NJ area as well and will forward this to my friend.Have you posted it stolen on any of the web pages that store the vin's for law enforcement by chance?I am in the central NJ area, you up North by the lakes it appears?
Call and inform places like the CYCLE EXCHANGE-they buy and sell used rides-that guy buys anything that goes into his shop, he might have a lead or 2 as too inquiries of a 250r for sale, that's a good bet!
NINJA
03-06-2010, 04:52 PM
Wow, that is very bad news. I feel for ya man. Fortunately the trike community is pretty close knit. There are alot of us junkies that scour Craigslist and eBay several times a day everyday, I'm sure at some point parts will start turning up or the machine will be spotted. Good luck, we'll all be searching.
DixiePlowboy
03-06-2010, 05:48 PM
Of course...just stating the obvious....posting that reward all around your area might either prompt the thief to try to collect it, or get their buds to roll on them.

03-06-2010, 05:54 PM

Sorry to hear it, man. I was thinking maybe you shouldn't offer such a large reward. If you do get it back, someone might target you on purpose! Also, I have to say I was impressed with all the people who said they would do what they could and not accept any reward. Although I don't really expect it to show up in Iowa, I would do the same.

03-06-2010, 08:26 PM
No reward needed here as well. Man, that is stomach turning to me.......especially one that nice with all that hard work in it!! I think thats a great idea, Craigslist is a place where people don't even HAVE to post pics, you can request them in an email. Some of us need to all put up wanted ads for a 250R in our region stating as suggested and see what pops up. All different types of ads.
It can't hurt at all......

I think this already in the mix. I looked through http://craiglook.com/ ,search engine for Craig's List! Last night on the prowl for this bike. I seen many post for 250R wanted! I believe this 3 wheeler community will prevail when it comes to aiding a lost/stolden trike that belongs to one of our own trike enthusiast!

I'm keeping an eye out in this area for you John. Of course, no reward needed, spend that reward money on putting the screws to the guy that stole it when you find him. I'll mention this theft to the local bike shops so they keep an eye out. There doesn't appear to be a lot of traffic on it but you can try posting on this site:

I'm also going to post this up on the couple of local ATV boards that I'm a member of.

Have faith. I had my race prepped 400ex stolen a few years back. I figured it was long gone with all the high end stuff on it. Well low and behold almost 6 months to the date my friends saw some kids riding it in some pits 20 min from my house when they called me I was like no way so I went with all my papers for it to go collect. When we got there they just about soiled them selves and one of the kids who was riding it lived up the street from me. Need less to say after a few black eyes, broken noses and some bruised ribs these trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro birds learned their lesson. The strangest part was that after being gone that long it looked like the day it was stolen.

I'd have to look through the thread but may I ask HOW they got it?? Thank god they didn't get the TIGER!! Then again, good luck selling and or parting that without getting caught...
I only ask because it helps educate US on avoiding the same situation.....
This is one reason I never leave trikes out to be seen by people driving by; Dad always said "don't advertise" which was sound advice. Sadly there are too many thiefs around and in this economy, people are pretty brave (daylight etc ) when trying to get your goodies. I'll never meet anyone at my home through Craigslist, those guys are just looking around for stuff to steal and see what type of security you have.
I find the best security to be "hidden/unseen" security. The best thing you can do is slow a thief down, the longer there on your property or around your trailer etc etc, the more anxious they get and afraid of being caught. Then again, with our legal system, they don't have much to lose depending on where you live.
I always try to stamp my initials in a few parts just in case I see a similar item for sale.
I truly hope you get it back. There are far too many rare items on that trike for one of "us" to recognize. Thiefs don't sit on stuff, they unload it ASAP and get some quick cash; Either that or there actually riding it.......

"I'll never meet anyone at my home through Craigslist, those guys are just looking around for stuff to steal and see what type of security you have. "
thats why as soon as they start up the drive, i let my 150 lb dog out the front door to greet them. lol Really, it is a shame but these days you cant trust people. I live in a very private location, and i still have all my machines locked up!!

OK, Here are some details. (BTW I just got in and put in a 13 hr day. Sorry to everyone I didn't post up sooner. Last night was St. Patties day so I celebrated the return of my R and the luck of the Irish!) Anyway, my son gets a phone call from a person who 100%, positively identified my R from the pic on the reward poster. He said he's seen his neighbor ride it down the street and when he talks to the guy he says not to tell anyone he has it. Tyler (my son) calls me at work and tells me this. I told him to call the detective and give him the info. The detective and a uniformed officer come to my house and my son takes them to the informants house. Lets call him Joe. Joe takes them over to the suspects house and the detective asks the step father if he can search the entire premesis and gets the OK. He goes to the shed and opens the door and guess what he finds, you guessed it, not only my R but two scum bags with wrenches in their hands stripping down my R. Talk about gettting nailed red handed. lol

So glad you got it back!! wish I knew how they got it though..........
When I was about 15yo's I got a nice BMX bike, the neighborhood bully always asked me to ride it and I wouldn't let him. He basically pushed me off of it and took off. I knew where he lived and was there within an hour with a cop. We walked in the basement and my rims were on one bike, bars/neck/forks on another and cranks/pedals on another. All that was left was a seat and seat post. We found the frame a few minutes later.
In one hour they had stripped it and installed my parts on other bikes. The cop let me use their tools and take all my stuff back. That was horrifying to watch my BMX bike ride away,,,,,,,,,,,,,:(

This story also shows a complete lack of parenting. Your kid shows up with a shiny "new" three wheeler and you don't ask any questions?!?! The best part is that the two criminals were caught in the act of tearing it down so they were caught red handed.

The problem with it is that they will claim they bought it from some fly-by-night shady guy who claimed to have built it himself.
The catch would be, in this case, that 'Joe' fellow saying that they told him not to tell anyone. That pretty much screws them.
Hope they get more than receiving stolen property. Curious, did he ask for the reward?

They can claim whatever they want, they have to prove it. I think the laws have changed a bit, and being in possession is worse now. It's the same as stealing it.

if it was in the state of GA anything stolen worth over $250 is considered a felony, grand theft dosnt occur here unless its worth over $1000 I beleive, so it should be safe to assume that they will at least get charged with feloney theft, felony tresspassing, receiving and attempting to sell stolen goods. It could be a fairly lenghty list if the DA is willing to slam them like that, but if your local county and city jails are maxxed they will most likely get off easier. You can allso press your own charges in civil court as well, wich would probably be a good idea.

This is Jersey and it's a roll of the dice. If the county is hungry for money these guys will get time....if their under 18 and white probation only. Jersey is a screwie state. I caught a kid breaking into my house last year and he had tons of priors fo B&E and got time served. he did 3 weeks cuz his parents said leave him there. then he ripps off another house in the neighborhood and gets 3 years probation. no time. I got my 9mm taken away cuz I chased him down the street with it in my hand. I had to go to court with a lawyer to get it back and the judge said I WAS RECKLESS.....I should of shot him as he was comming though my bathroom window cuz the cops said that was ok. In 01 I had a black guy trying to break in through my back door. once his hand went through the window my German Shepard locked on and didn't let go. I got a call at work from a neighbor to come home and get him off. The a-hole tried to sue me for the dog ripping his arm to shreads. The case was thrown out and he got 3 1/2 to 7 years. Thats Jersey for ya. But Turbo is in a republican county so they might get socked out of the box.

My bet is they will get a slap on the wrist their will be no punishment especially if its their first offense here in this country we reward people for doing bad by giving them a discount on their first offense.
You will be on your own for punishment whats really cool is you know exactly who they are and can keep tabs on them the rest of their life every time they get something nice like your 3 wheeler you will know about it, you can go to their myspace page reply something witty, who knows maybe you have a picture of them that they post on the internet you can use to your advantage like this, FYI the mutt below is also a member on this site.

Its the American way to reward bad behavior you know forgive and forget love thy brother, the one I like the most is going easy on them because its was their first offense, its a great policy works so well our jails and our prisons are over full, we cant build prisons fast enough, look at California they are letting them out of prison because they cant afford to keep them locked up.
I remember my grandpa telling me how they use to deal with thief 60-70 years ago, the cops was the last person you called if you even bothered to call them.
IMO first offense should be double the fines and double the penalty, years of public service, make them pickup garbage along side the road whilst wearing a orange jump suit in their free time, their is no shortage of garbage to be picked up their is a shortage of people picking it up !

Here's some info on the dirt bag who stole it. Bernard aka "Barney"is a local. Never finished high school and when he was there everyone beat the chit out of him even some girls. lol Has been stealing forever. Hangs out in the woods to plot his next theft along with his cohorts. He even stole mechanics tools from his room mate who has since moved. Has a great reputation as a "scum bag", and i'm quoting. And is well known by the police. This punk already has been convicted of stealing another bike less than a year ago. Got 3 years probation and had to wear a ankle bracelet. Not sure if he was a minor at theat time.

WTF happened to that dudes hair!! 22 yrs old and his hair looks like that!! Iv'e heard of premature gray, but thats just not right!! Glad to hear you got it back turbo!! bravo.
When i was a kid, me and my buddy were swimming in the pool in the backyard, my Haro, and his Dyno were in the front yard. we come around the house later and there is this little kids banana seat bike were our bikes had been!! we thought one of our friends was playing a joke on us. It was 12:00 in the afternoon right in busy neiborhood! a few weeks later i'm in the car with my parents, and i see my freinds bike laying in this front yard. I called the cops, and my buddy, the cops drove us down there. Only one home was some woman, said her son wasnt home, we took my freinds bike, and that was the end of it, they never went back to ? this kid or anything, and i never saw my Haro again!!

At least you know who took it. if anymore thefts happen locally, i'd go straight there.
If he gets off easy, i would make sure he still got his fair share, if ya know what i mean.
Looks like i need to move to texas....i would WAIL on the turd that stole my chit.
We need to invent a tracking device, like a portable LO-JACK system. small, easy to hide (like in a frame tube), self-powered by an inernal battery so you cant easily locate it and disable it, and can be activated by police if your stuff is stolen.....talk about homing in on your ride!
Stonecoldchavez
03-31-2010, 09:21 PM
Congrats on getting your bike back! That rarely happens.
As for being in New Jersey, he will probably get PTI (Pre-Trial Intervention) and only get probation with the way our criminal justice system is backed up. You probably should have done the steel-toe two step to him first, but then you would get time and fined for assaulting him. Isn't American justice great? Criminals have more rights....
