Aftermarket swingarm question

Just wondering what the difference is between 85 and 86 250r swingarms? and whether an aftermarket swinger for an 86 will work on an 85 250r?

The difference is in the size of the tube that the rear carrier fits in and the bracket for the rear brake. You can swap an 86 set up in but you need to get the arm with the axle carrier and caliper bracket that attaches to the axle carrier. I think you can use the 85 caliper but the bracket that attaches it to the swingarm will have to be unbolted.

so I need to swap in an 86 bearing carrier and and an 86 rear brake system to make this work?

Yes and depending on the bearing carrier and axle you have you might have to go to an 86 and up axle as well. As for the brake system I think you just need the carrier bracket from an 86 and up.
