completely different, for one i believe the 84 250rs are air cooled and the 84 CR250 is liquid cooled. the 84 cr250s are some of the fastest 2 strokes to date, took honda 10 years to build another one as fast.

i have an 82 cr 250. it is water cooled and so were all the CRs following. The 84 ATC 250R is air cooled. they are completely different engines

The early 80's CRs were very similar, cept the 80 model was LH kick. they look the same, try looking at the 1979-1982 CR series.

81-84 250r use the same piston as the mr250 and cr250 from 1973 to 1978 or 79.they are alot cheaper on ebay and easy to find
Same connecting rod too.The rod is also the same in the cr250 84-01,yz250 99-00,atc250r 85-86 and trx250r 86.the only difference is the pin lenght, they use longer pin, other than that all spec are the same.If you check on ebay you can buy a piston and a connecting rod for less than 100$....
