1986-87 atc200x vs 1985-86 atc250r switch q?

I have a question.. the 1986-87 ATC200X switch looks exactly the same as the 1985-86 ATC250R. The only difference I see is the wires and ends. Could you use the USED 200x wires and attach them to the NOS 250R switch? The NOS 87 200X switch is impossible for me to find but I have found several ATC250R switches. Has anyone tried this before? Pic one is the 250R pic 2 is the 200X

I think I can use the existing wires and inner control parts on the 200X and just use the face and buttons on the 250r switch, I beleive that will work also, without having to cut any wires.
