First i wanna say i haven't been on the site in a few years since i sold all of my bikes. The site looks amazing and looks like it has grown quite a bit. I just bought my uncles 200s last night that he bought brand new in 84. The bike is in very good shape as its all original it has normal wear as expected but has been kept inside. Heres my question he has never changed the oil in it ever. I was wondering if i should do that or if it would be a bad idea and that i should just add oil too it? i read that i should use 10w40 is there a certain brand oil i should go with? The bike runs good but if not started in a long time take a bit to get running and white smokes till its warmed up. I think i did pretty good i gave him $500 for it. Ive also got a 84 110 and a 84-85? 200x that both need work. Been hard to work on them cause im currently restoring a 1966 Mustang as well. Also if anyone knows of a link to online owners manuels that would be cool too. Thanks Cody

I would say change the oil right away, any brand 10w30 or 10w40. I'd probably also clean the carb. out and replace the spark plug.

If it's smoking from the engine it self (My 84 200s does) buy the top end gasket set on eBay for $22 shipped.
Also, it may be a good idea to replace the piston rings while you have the top end off for the new gaskets anyway. Standard bore (never modified), I found the piston rings for around $32 shipped.

So $55 or so and you can get rid of the smoking from the engine + from the exhaust (If yours is smoking from there, that is.)

It only smokes from the exhaust when it hasnt been cranked in a long time. Im scared to change the oil completely since its never been changed. it was low so i added some too it. All he ever did was just add oil when needed.

there wont be any down side to completely changing the oil. just use the right stuff. 10w40 is fine

Drain the oild and flush the crud out with kerosene. Poor thing almost feel sorry for it, i use Wet Clutch oil not car oil. but thats my preference. Nice shape too, by the way.

Yeah i got some valvoline 10w40 atv oil. I washed and waxed it today too lol. She runs like a champ and idles smooth after she warms up. Ordered new brake levers and a air filter today.

I would defently change the oil asap, clean the oil filter and change the oil a couple more times frequently to get all the crap out of her(like every couple times you ride it). Looks like a good runner, i had a 84 and was in the normal ruff shape but would run like a champ, your is in great shape for a 200s.
