ok i am just about ready to start looking for another honda and it is between the 250r and 350x.
1)which is faster?
2)more comfortable to ride(suspension)?
3)which is more durable?
4) which takes less work to keep up with wear and tear?
5)easier to work on?
6) parts availability?
7)which is easier to load in a pickup i dont have ramps i lift my 250sx into my 3/4 ton ford front wheel first then pick up the back.
8) which is a better trail rider as i wont be racing dont have any sand pits but have lots of trails.altho i am going to try to make some of the events that are listed here.

last but not least should i trade my sx and cash to get a mint bike? i know where a newly rebuilt 86 250r is only thing i dont like on it is the plastic tank doesnt look right to me. now i dont need to trade my sx as i have saved up some cash and its a nice trail rider.
is $2000 a good price for a rebuilt 250r it is nice not a show bike but the whole bike was gone threw by the honda dealer near me who has been here for 30 some years. thanks cattle-dog

I own both and while I like my 350X and its a great woods machine, I still would prefer to have an R prepped for the woods. It has better suspension and is lighter so its easier to maneuver IMHO. Both have their up sides and down sides as far as maintenance goes. When its time to do a piston in the R its much easier than it is in the X. You don't have to worry about adjusting any valves in an R and there is no oil filter to worry about with the R. I've owned an R that had the same piston in it for almost 20 years and it was ridden a lot so as long as you use good oil the 2 strokes can go a long way on a piston.

Loading in a truck the 250r its lighter
Faster probably the 250r, both have 6 speed tranny's but the 250r is a race bike
Durable probably the 250r
Easy to work on 250r hands down
Available parts 250r
Trail riding bike 350x unless you are one heck of a rider.
The 250r has better suspension.
With all that said I have a 350x and a Tecate that I ride.
$2000 for a good 250r is ok(3 years ago yea, but economy takes its toll.). Here in Utah $1200-$1600 gets you a darn nice bike.
Good luck.
