Hello all. I just picked up my Honda ATC200? today and wanted to see what model I have.

Here is what I know about it.

The owner said it was a '83 200, but it has a '85 motor. Motor Differences?

It shifts up through the gears by stepping down on the shift pedal.

The motor does have High and Low range on it.

This bike IS equipped with shocks on the front forks, however the previous owner said he swapped these out from another bike and this one originally had hard shocks. The handlebars do have an engine Start button (from the old bike I assume). This front end originally had a rectangular headlight with a C-bracket that held it in place, not the bar bracket like the Big Reds have. Any ideas what kind of bike this front end came off of?

The bike is NOT equipped with electric start, but has what looks like a fake starter on it. It's a starter case with no holes in it for wires to come out and no rotor or stator in the case. It says 6 or 12vdc (I don't remember which) and 0.6Kw on the back of the case. On the back side of it (pointing to the right side of the trike) it has two posts with threaded holes like a bracket mounts to it. I assumed that Honda used this "undeveloped feaux starter" to simply plug the hole where the starter would normally go. Is this correct? Upon removing the fake starter (it just sticks in there and is held with an O-ring...no bolts hold it), I can stick my finger in the hole where it was and feel the small gear that a real starter would actuate.

The exhaust on the bike exits low and in the center of the back.

The rear rack has bars that come down and bolt to the sides of the foot pegs, though the previous owner said he did some customizing on the rack so I'm not sure how it's supposed to be.

That's about all I know about it that I can think of right now. I'll probably run the VIN using the link I found on here tomorrow.

Thanks for any help you guys might be able to provide on identifying the bike and the front end.

Welcome to 3ww.

There's a engine serial number below the shifter.

(Bigger) pics would help.

custom work it sounds like. 200m maybe???? Racks do not attatch to footpegs and exhaust exits top right, not center on 200's......this may hhttp://atcvin.webs.com/elp.. pics will help as Mike said......

you said the guy said the trike came with no front suspension and he switched it to have shocks? If thats so then I am thinking its a plain ATC200. 200m had front suspension stock. 200e is ruled out cause of no electric start or reverse. Its not a 200s.

I am thinking either a plain ATC 200 (81-83) or it is a complete Frankin Trike where it was hacked together with lots of different parts.

Lol @ Frankin-Trike. Here's a better pic:

You're probably right about it being a regular ATC200...originally. I'll have to get the VIN and Engine Serial # when I get a chance.

Wen to the offroad park today and I really love this thing. When it ran, it was a blast!

It's got issues I think with fuel...It runs great when you first start it up. If you get on it too hard it sounds like it's choking out, then eventually it will just die...like it's not getting fuel. After a couple minutes it'll start right back up and run for another 5-10 minutes. My buddy and I took the carb apart last night and cleaned it up real good and got it all back together and put it back in and it seemed to be fine then but today not so much.

I'm going to pull the fuel tank off and empty it and pull the petcock to make sure everything is clean in there. I'm also going to check the air filter I made. When I opened the air box last night, there was no filter of any kind around the fuselage inside the air box, so I made a rudimentary filter out of a piece of really thin t-shirt...so maybe that's not working so well either.

I'm probably going to remove the air box completely and put a snorkel out the back with one of those enclosed mushroom looking cone type air filters up top.

I'm going to search the forums here for others who have had similar problems such as this...unless any of y'all who read this have it pegged and can help a brutha out. Lol.

Check to make sure the gas tank vent is working.

Yea, Its most likey a atc200. The 200m has a two piece rear fender and the ATC200 and 200s were the only 200's (other than the X) that had a one piece rear fender.

Looks like it has a 200x front wheel/hub and disc.

That rear rack actually looks like it was built for that trike. Looks like an aftermarket! Is there any markings on the rack?
