Guys I used rocks to get all the bad rust out of my tank... they did a good job.. Well I got all the rocks that i thought was in there.. Well after I flushed clean and put fresh gas in it... I notice abut 9 rocks stuck in the side cracks where the tank slims down... I could not get them to budge with a long flat head screw driver... will it be ok to leave them in there? I hate to try to tear the tank up getting them out.

not sure if any of the minerals in the rocks would react with the gas. You may be alright, atleast put an inline filter in. This is a new one on me.

yea I have 2 filters one in the peckcock and the other one inline. I should have gotten smaller rocks.. I was not picky i went to my neighbors driveway and took about 5 hand fulls of sharp rocks. Works like a charm with some paint thinner and gas mixture...and shook it like 15min in all direction.

I used rocks in the tank of my old xl 250 and a few of them got stuck. I left them and put an inline filter and I have never had any problems with it.

Next time try using ball bearings instead of rocks, they shouldn't get stuck as easy in the cracks.

actually, 1/4" nuts work even better than ball bearings... the sharp edges break up rust really well

We always use a link of chain. Hard to get this stuck, dose a pretty good job.
