I was wondering if there are any telltale sighns that a motor has never been apart. I am going to possibly look at a low hr 86trx on original piston. Is there a way to verify this without taking the head off? Any other trx owners who have any input on things i might want to check. feel free to chime in. This would be the most ive spent on an atv purchase, so i want to be sure it is what its said to be.

I don't think it matters whether it's a TRX, ATC or anything else for that matter. But this is kind of difficult to judge. I guess the first thing to look for would be gaskets. If they're green, then it's been taken apart and put together with newer factory Honda gaskets. If the gasket are dark grey, they might be original, or they could be aftermarket. I would look for ANY signs that any of the bolts have been removed, maybe some slight rounding of the heads. Other than that, you'll have to pull it apart to be sure. Good luck.
