So I am replacing the steering stem bearings on my Big Red 250es with All Balls bearings & the bearing has a little play on the steering tube...is this normal? What bearings do you guys use? Bearings pictured below, has anyone used these bearings?

Yamahas have an adjustment to remove some of the play. I don't know about the Hondas. Check your manual for steering stem adjustment.

The manual says to tighten the steering stem nut to 25lbs turn back and forth a few times then loosen to 5-6 lbs. Did you try this? Mine has a little play too but I don't think they have ever been changed. I will be watching so let us know what your fix is.

Well I replaced the 25yr old bearings & seals this afternoon, what a pain in the ass!!!! The OLD race's were sooooo hard to get out, the bottom one actually broke into pieces. But the fork is back on, Ill finish the rest tomorrow. Pics posted in my build tread.

I put these bearing in my 86 and my dads all original 85. Worked great. His was a little loose but mine is tight. They both work awesome.
