hitting the yard sales saturday, came across this thing. Im suppose to be getting the motor for it later this week as its at his brothers shop. basically the whole roller is there, both brakes, the electicals. He pulled the motor because it quit running. when he pulled it apart, they diagnose it as a bad stator, Im suppose to be getting one of them too.

That was for sure not one of those drive by sales where you slowly drive by just to see if there is something neat. Looks like this was one you couldn't park the truck quick enough. Awesome.

Funny thing, I bought a atc 70 about a year and a half ago. I stopped at the store to get a drink, I come out and this guy is checking the trike out. Asks if I planned on fixing it. I told him its a hobby of mine and he told me to follow him to his house, he'd give me a project he had in the yard. turned out to be a atc 90.
I go to this yard sale and it turns out to be the same guys house. He remembers me, and we get to talking, then he asks if I wanted a 250R, which wasnt even out in the yard sale. I checked it out, agreed to come pick it up sunday. I glanced over at this trailer, noticed the price and measured it. I went home, figured it would fit in the yard. Thought about it all night, went back sunday and told him I'd take the trailer too! jim

Went and bought me more junk tonight! guy had 2 185s on craiglist. 1 has a suspension the other was a wasted wreck. also has a 250R roller. I go across town, and check them out. the running 185 has a weld on aftermarket frame that looks like I welded it. Its solid, but just not factory looking. The other 185 turned out to be a 200s that hit a wall, forks are toast, frame is wiped. Its got a good gas tank, handle bars, front tire and brakes. rear axle with brakes and hubs. The 250R turns out to be a 1st gen 200X. Somone welded the hubs on the rear axle. but the rear brakes are all there, front brake is missing the caliper. has the forks, rear suspension, and wheels and tires. Also had a spare 185 motor thats got great compression.
Ended up leaving the suspended 185, bought the rest of the stuff. Ive got a complete 185 that needs cables, gas cap, and some misc. stuff, I figure I can get my project at least running and stopping with these parts, and maybe get rid of the other junk for what I have into it.
Oh, he said the 200s had 17" wire daytons on it when they bought it! jim

Got the call today! The guy I bought the R from called and told me he arranged to have me pick the motor up. Of course the shop its in is clear on the other end of town, actually about 5 minute from where I bought the 200X roller. Went and found out the motor quit sparkikng, there was rust on the stator and probably shorted out. So the guy I got it from had his b i l tear it down to freshen it up a couple years ago. The motor was torn down and been sitting ever since. Fortunately the guy that took it apart owns his own bike repair shop, so he didnt just dump it all in a box. its actually put away pretty orderely. Heck the carb was even in the box. He told me to put it back together with gaskets, rings, crank kit would run about 300 bucks, since the piston is gone, I guess its another 100 bucks. If we keep it, I may just have him redo the motor.
Or maybe just see if I can trade the whole works for a decent 200X or something. jim
