I'm looking for a reputable yet inexpensive place to have my cylinder nikasil plated. Also wondering if someone can tell me where I can get a carb rebuild kit for my stock Mikuni. Do they still stock those at dealers? I'll probably hit John Swinehart up for a new intake boot if he is still making them.
I've been out of the game for a few months and am now ready to make a little more progress. Any help/advice is appreciated.
I'm going to split the cases because my cases are cracked and i have some cases in mint shape that i want to use. I'll need to find a chain guard also. Not much on ebay lately, i have noticed.
Also, I could use some prayers that i don't screw anything up while redoing my engine!:D

Oh, I have a stock expansion chamber in perfect shape. Is it worth the money to upgrade to a DG since I'm leaving everything basically stock? I might get some power reeds but I'm going to keep the stock carb and stuff. Is it really worth buying the DG in this case or should i just stick with my stock pipe and save the money for something else?

Stick with stock....unless u can get the DG pipe dirt cheap. Boyesen reeds are a great, cheap upgrade. An aftermarket silencer would be nice too.....if you can find 1 cheap. Go with a Uni air filter too...fairly cheap and plentiful on E-Bay.
Carb parts are getting hard to find. The gasket is NLA as are the 2 float caps along with the jet holder.

Everybody bitches about the Mik 34mm round slide, but the only issue I've ever had with mine is a little gas drip when the bike is sitting. Other than that, it's been a great carb for me.

me too I use a pwk 39 keihin in my 87kxt with a carb boot from John Swinehart. more power everywhere. Same to me couldn't find a rebuilt kit for the stock one. if the bike is for riding best option for me is to go with a 39pwk ( use a hair drier to hot the air filter duct ) but if you like to use the stock carb I have heard from someone that he finded parts from yamaha but this is unconfirmed from me for the moment!!

Millenium Technologies is where I always send my stuff.

There is also US Chrome and RPM but I prefer Millenium over them for turn around time and quality.

Definitely go with Millenium for the cylinder replating. I've dealt with them for years. Yamaha uses them for their warranty work for a reason.

x2 for US chrome, they seem a little busy right now with sled season but were great to deal with.

Langcourt.com 1-334-887-9633 They have locations worldwide and are the biggest. The operation here in the states is in Alabama. I have had 2 tecate jugs done by them for $150 each with perfect results.

Carb parts are available from SUDCO. Just bought everything for my 86 T3 carb from them. I have dealt with both. Millenium because of the yami dealer I work for and Langcourt privately. Both do outstanding work.

F.Y.I. Just a little peice of info for you guys that didnt know. The owners of Millenium and US Chrome used to be partners back in the 90's. After some differences the owner of Millenium split off and created his own company. So technically they have the same knowlage and technology to do the work. It all comes down to who has the shortest wait time...

I just had a jug done by US CHROME, took a week to do, called me with all questions, I am very impressed, sent the piston kit with it, clearances spec'd by them to a "t", very happy.Any alternative carbs to use with a stock jug, an V-FORCE 3 reeds? 34MM? 39 PWK? I have a old 250r atc 34mm keihin in mint shape, wonder if it will fit the intake?
