A yamaha tri-z axle can be swapped with a little for to widen the rear of your tri-moto.

Hey Louis what do you have to change to run the Tri-Z axle in the Tri-moto?

Well the tri-z axle fits right in to the YT carrier, and the YT sprocket hub and sprocket can go on just like it does stock, the differences are all on the brake side.

The whole idea is that you need to make a hub that will fit the tri-z splines and will float on the axle. The YT has a splined sleave that accomplishes the same thing but none of the stock parts, sleave or disk will fit the tri-Z axle on that side. The tri-Z axle has two different sized spline. What you have to do is get a Yamaha blaster brake disk and hub. You take the hub and cut the rubber seal side down so it's flush with the outer edge of the hub housing. Then it will fit on the axle and float with a a little grease. Next you need to take the YT's splined sleave and cut it down to create a axle stop collar and seal surface. (I did it with a hacksaw but you need a steady had and eye to do it that way) If my memory serves me correctly you also insert the tri-z axle in the opposite direction than you would if it was in a Tri-z. The axle nut side will be on the sprocket side.

So to sum it up.

You need a tri-z axle, a yamaha blaster brake disc and hub.
Cut the seal side off the hub. (that side should be nice and smooth)
Cut the YT splined sleave down, should be about 3/4 of an inch wide when your done, smooth seal surface remaining)
Lube the axle non threaded splines on the axle (should have a stop built into this side)
Install brake rotor on hub on the stoppered side.
Install the collar you made from the YT splined sleave.
Put axle into carrier, grease liberally.
Put sprocket hub onto axle
Use stock YT nuts and star locking collar to tighten everything down.

Congratulations you've got a +4 YT125 or YT175 axle!

I'm working on an article with pictures and everything so expect to see that sometime in the near future.

Milkman, since you use the blaster parts, will the blaster axle work? That's what I've been trying to figure out all along. I just don't have wrenches to fit the blaster axle nuts.

If a blaster axle will work on a tri-z then it should work just fine for our purposes Pat. I can personally vouch for the tri-z axle as that's what's in my tri-moto right now.

Thanks Louis,I did not know it was even possible to use a Tri-Z axle in a tri-moto. Thanks, Alex
