Possible 87 250r found ?

Someone call me tonight about a 250 bigred I have for sale.He sais he have a 86 250r,with white fender,front and rear,white tank and red shroud,all with original decal.....He's supposed to come here tomorrow to see my 250es,and he will bring his 250r.I will take picture and let you see it. 87 is possible....I'm in canada :naughty:

I will try to check if there is a part number molded in the fenders

I might be the only person that thinks the '87 R doesn't look that cool, the red tank looks mis-placed....It'd look much better in white.

You know I talked to a dealer that was around since the early 80's and he said those ad colors arent necessarily what they looked like all the time. As there were many 87 250SX with the white headlight plastic straight from the dealer. They said, it was up to the dealer to put what they had in stock on it, if they so choose. So some of the colors could be a tad different when you bought one new. Now not sure what all the hype is about an 87 R, just put the correct color plastics on it and call it an 87 HAHAHA. However, it would be neat to see the infamous R and X in 87 drag....:)

White plastic tanks turn yellow, thats prob why they left it red, just like the 86/87 xr's.

Thats true with any light colored tanks. The gas turns or fades them badly. Heck look at the tecate tanks and that green. So Red and black are the best way to go with a tank.

I have an orange tank on my KTM and it seemed to give it a tad darker color at the bottom (where the gas usually sits) but nothing horrible. I guess it would depend on color and darkness of the orange. A bright neon color, might not fare too well as the daker colored ones.

Derrick adams, then Me, now Snake ran Casper the 250r. Over what 4 years now? It had a WHITE clarke 250r plastic tank.

It has not yellowed at all, besides the normal dirt scratches in it from riding. Good way to clean them is a SOS pad.

I am now running a clarke yellow tank, and will let you know how it holds up.

Regardless if it had a white or red tank, red shroud or white. Let's see the vin#. Could be possible?

i ran a white OEM tank on a new 97 CR125 i had and it yellowed with in 1 year. maybe aftermarker is better, but every white OEM tank ive had has yellowed, but i also stored them full of fuel which is not the best idea but im not looking for a perfect ride.

now i have a clark plastic tank on the 300ex to replace the crappy metal one and its whiteish, not yellow yet but its not holding premixed fuel either.

All of us Canadian trike enthusiast we should go to our local Honda dealer and ask the shop owner if they were in business in 1987. If so, we should ask them if they know anything about the 1987 Honda ATC 250R... That the easiest way to find if they really exist...
