Ive got a 86 kawasaki tecate and i broke the shaft governor taking it apart and i cant find a new one... but i was told u could swap a kx 500 motor into the frame cause they have the same motor mounts is this true?

No, it is not. It is a fairly simple swap though. There are a few issues you have to address, suck as the kickstarter and fabbing up a pipe. It's not just a bolt-in.

Also, no- the motor mounts are different. You have to make up new mounts for the front. If memory serves me correct the bottom mount lines up and I know for a fact that the rear mount with the swing arm pivot lines right up.

as last resort i would run the T3 motor with the powervalves pegged open (or even removed). But i imagine you might want some low end for the UP. I have found my 86 T3 and KX250s never really had much by design.

A 1985 kx 250 motor bolts right in no issues to a 86 tecate right?
