My friend painted these fenders about 5 or 6 years ago with tremclad rust paint...why, I don't know, but anyway, we are trying to get it back to original yellow (its a yamaha)
We took it to the car wash and were able peel a good amount of the paint away by just pressure washing it, but it will not all come off.
The next step is to sand it, but is there any easier way to get it off? It was not properly prepped/primed when it was painted so it should not be to hard to get off...
I heard someone say gasoline or something will remove the paint without wrecking the fenders...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It always seems like if you dont prep it right and want it to stick then it wont, but when you dont want it to stick and slack on the prep work it wont ever come off. I would try some enamel reducer or carb cleaner just DO NOT let it sit on there for very long at all. Just spray or wipe it down and see what come off, you will probably need some elbow grease, do not use sand paper if you need something to help you scrub try some gray scuff pads.

powerwashing fenders can ruin them if you get too close. itll burn the "clear" off them and make them like pitted. I learned my lesson the hard way this summer.

paint stipper and a softer bristle brush like used to scrub a cement floor. did it on mine, 20 mins and it will look new.

What an insulting paint job!!!!!!! Honda red on Yamaha plastics.. Get that crap of their soon as possible. Soft Scrub and scotchbrite(white), followed by cotton buffing. Just check my profile pictures and see the results for yourself!

Here is a link for the page that discussed wet sanding if you decide to go that route.

I have tried this technique and does work well if you really want to put some work and some time into it.
