I assembled the bottom end of my 1983 200e and i have what looks like a hardened pin .315 in Dia x .550 long left over. "CRAP" I know it’s not for the one way clutch, but other than that I have no clue. Do you know where it might go? Here is a pic[Ihttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af42/jimaccord/th_Photo0171.jpgMG]

use the ikea rule throw out all left over parts.:postwhore
but for real check the manual and think back.

Looks like the shift drum star pin . It will hold the tranny in the correct gear so the star cant turn .

Alignment dowel? Too small for the starter gear to ride on...

could be, the only place i seen something that matches this is in the oil pump on my '86 BR

I have two manuals and i looked them over but there no help and it was like 2 years ago when i took this thing appart
I was thinkin it was an alignment pin too, but all the places that use them have a bolt goin through them so..... Crap

This pin Harry?I know this is for the 200X but its one of the dowel pins for the top of crankcase.. part #13

Idk if this helps but the 200x has no dowel like that anywhere in the engine. The only pin I can think of that is solid is the pin that goes in the cam to drive the ignition rotor, and that's much smaller than what you have there. I know your 200e is different in the tranny area, and the clutch area. I would check that over good.
Maybe a alignment pin for the rocker cover up top..?

Those have holes in them too, like the cylinder alignment dowels but smaller in size.
