I found this 86 Honda 250SX on Craigslist and it needs a ton of work cosmetically speaking. The guy said it runs and drives fine (dont know for sure yet) I just dont know what I would even offer him. It will take quite a bit to make it a nice machine again.
He started out at $900 and I said that was a lot higher than I would pay for a machine in that condition. Right now he is down to offering it for $650. It needs a front fender, seat, whole bunch of cosmetic type work. The guy seems anxious to sell it as he has kept sending me messages, lowering the price each time, even after I told him I wasnt interested in it.
Here are some pics. Let me know what you think or would offer for it.
Thanks for any input you guys have!

looks rough, i would sy 3-4 hundred. check the tank for rust, bearing issues ect. There are alot of sx's out there lately in the 5-8 hundred range that are alot nicer than that.

I'm not sure I'd even give him $300 for that. Just by looking at the outside condition of that turd you know it's going to need brakes and bearings and everything else.

$300 tops and he's gotta bring to it's new home w/a full tank!!!! I don't know what part of Pa you live in but you can find a nicer/cheaper one in eastren Pa. $500-$800 in good con ready to ride is what they go for around here.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! It is very much appreciated! :p
I think I'm going to pass on that 250SX and try to find something nicer. If anyone else is interested in this, it is on Pittsburgh Craigslist here: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/rvs/1559224561.html
I will stick with my 225DX for now and continue to look for a Honda to add to the family.
Here is my DX. (Its a little dirty in these pics)

Smart move I say. What is wrong with the machine you have?Unless you want a project to throw alot of money at I would stay away from bikes that need alot of work. There is nice up and running machines out there for $800-900.

Yeah I think it is a definite "Pass"! There is nothing wrong with the machine I have, I was just looking for a Honda to add to the collection. I won't be selling my DX, just want to add a Honda to the family.
Also, Your right about there being nice machines out there for the $800-$900 range, and I really dont need a project right now anyway. Thx for the feedback!
