Just picked up my first R and I have torn it down for an entire rebuild... a couple questions....

Measured the bore around 2.628, the piston measures 2.620. Is this stock, .10 over ???. Sorry folks, don't have a manual yet.

Also, the oil was the dreaded milkshake color... almost white in fact. I tore the engine down and found one of the cases was welded on in the bottom of the flywheel area in a couple places right up to the sealing surface to the other case. Also... the entire bottom of the engine where the main cases split was completely covered with JB weld along the parting line. Found a lot of grime under the engine and I suspect the JB weld was there because it was leaking oil.

My question with the oil.... can I assume water got in the case through the leaky case? Are R's prone to other issues that would allow coolant into the trans oil somehow?

Anyone have any idea?

The water in the oil is most likely from a faulty water pump seal.
Not sure about the bore.
The repairs on the bottom, are ok, if done correctly.
