Hi, I've got a carb problem with my Honda 200ES. It runs rich, not enough to stop it running ok but it will start easily from cold without choke and will foul a spark plug every few weeks. I'm pretty bike savvy and expected to service the carb and solve the problem, however even after a thorough service of the carb and all seems to match the specs in the Honda manual its no better. I'd lower the fuel level to fix it but can't because the float is all plastic - no tang to bend. Oh, and air filter is fine. So ........ what am i missing? Is this a common problem? Cheers Andy.

you can try a smaller pilot jet,or just buy a new carb, they are cheap enough

I own a 1984 200ES BIG RED and I had the same problem, I put a new carb on and was still going through spark plugs like crazy and finally figured out it was the slide needle just needed to raise the clip and that cured it, daniel is correct.

Yup, lowering the needle made it loads better but because the clip was in the place it should have been I had a proper look at the needle and tube. Both show wear and the tube is a bit oval. Guess how much new ones are from Honda? $70 so I guess I'll:cool: keep with the lowered needle and see how it goes. Cheers for the responses, Andy.
