View Full Version : Honda 70cc performance parts??

I'm wondering if in the 80's,there is any performance parts for those motor,like cams,hi-compression piston.....etc...??????

I have built a custom 70cc motor with many parts from many different model of honda motor.I have now a 70cc with 185psi of compression instead of 125,a lot more torque

I always prefer a good "stock" motor with good modification instead of a chineese motor.

There were lots of performance. From wider axles and all kinds of engine bits allthe way up to suspension frames.

I know there is many parts for the frame,but I'm really looking for the motor.Nice link,a stroker crank would be nice!

Powroll will stroke your crank if you want, at least they would. They dropped some trikes a while ago, but I can't remember which ones. Powroll won't stroke them as big now as they once did, but you have to remember, these trikes are over 25 years old. Powroll is afraid of stroking the cranks out too much and them breaking from fatigue and old age. At one time, there was tons of engine stuff for the 70's. Those days are long gone. It's amazing some of the stuff people throw away. Heck, at one time there were places that sold yt60 performance parts, but that's another whole thread. If you really want to hop up a 70, start with an xl70 based engine. Much more performance potential and you have kick start and manual clutch. But you can mod a trx70 side cover to work for pull start on a kick start engine and it's not too complicated. About the biggest you can expect now is 110 or so out of a 70 unless you use pit bike parts and that is not the way it seems you want to go. It's also alot easier to kick start a high compression 70 engine, trust me on this one. Think about either quick disconnect rear fenders or a flip fender arrangement and the kick start is a breeze. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

i use old CT70 pistons in mine. they are higher compression. the ones from the early 1970s.

I use a CB350F motorcycle piston.Same diameter,same pin.....the difference is that the 350f piston top is higher than any stock 70 motor.modify the piston to clear the head and the valve,and you will have a lot more compression.
On mine I used a xl70 crankshaft,so you can use the flywheel with ignition advance in it.I also use a old S65 motorcycle headthose head are the same,except some small difference,intake port flow a lot better,valve are the same as the 70cc,but the combustion chamber is smaller.And the S65 cam have more duration,same lift.The XL70 carb is used too.
I used this motor in a z50,look completly stock but the difference is big.I have now 185 psi of compression,instead of 125psi stock....always use high octane fuel with 50% racing fuel....

Pk racing made all kinds of goodies for them back in the day to . I think I still have some NOS aftermarket rockers and more of the fancy finned tappet covers if you need them . Good luck on your search

My old motor in my race 70 was a atc 90 big bore piston . I reamed the rod out to 14mm to fit the 90 piston pin. And used a custom LA sleeve and bored out the cases to fit the sleeve I had to bore the cases out into the alinment dowl hole to make it fit. And I used a honda fast cam I found in a used head I bought . And I made a up sweap head pipe like poweroll made and made my own muffler. And I made my own copper head gasket. Alot of the stuff I made cause all the after market stuff wasn't around then.

I took out the original atc 70 motor and bought a beat up atc 125m took the motor out of that and making it fit in the 70 frame just a little cutting on the frame and drill new holes and u have to reclock the intake manifold right now I just got the motor mounted in right now.
