Just on a whim, found it on Craigslist. I emailed out of curiosity to see what he wanted for it. Ended up picking it up for $200 and an old Marlin 22 long rifle I got for free many years ago. Looks like it needs a battery and a few odds and ends. It was used on a frarm it's whole life by an adult so it's been pretty well taken care of. I'm sure I'll have her running by tomorrow. I believe this will complete my collection for awhile.

Yes, the right side cover is there. I gotta get the rear tire re-seated, it's off the rim right now. Find out what type of battery is on it and the guy who sold it to me said the starter would not engage or something. Prolly not too hard to figure out.

Well you cant beat having a Big Red as they are super dependable, great work trikes and really fun for long woods/camping rides.

After a quick clean up. It's too cold here to take it outside for a bath. Tried to get it running but it seems like it's not getting fuel. I can get it to fire for about 5 secs. w/ a shot of start fluid. Gonna have to clean the carb and find a new battery today.

Well one thing I did on a couple of my big reds that are riders, is relocate a battery in the truck area. You drill small holes on the bottom of the trunk area and run longer positive and negative cables. Then go to the auto store and get one of those 20$ lawn tractor batterys that fit in the truck. I put some cushion around it and zip tie it down. It is a much cheaper replacement, and gives added power to accessories.

Took the carb off today and got it cleaned. Fired right up. It is bogging under throttle so looks like I may have to do some tuning. The oem air filter is shot but I think I have a uni around here somewhere. Also got the new battery in but the single 20 amp fuse is blown. Does anyone know where to get these?

What does the fuse look like? It's not one like a car uses?

Thanks Mike, that's the one. Man, I'm not paying $11 for one fuse. Service Honda's rpice seems better but they're still gonna hit me for at least $5 for shipping. I think I have a standard blade type waterproof inline fuse holder in the garage. I may replace the whole holder and set it back for later. I can get about 50 20A blade fuses for $11.

When I made a custom seat cover for my 185s the backside was sucking down into the airbox causing it to bog down.

Ok, got the waterproof standard blade type fuseholder in. Starter works great. I was worried because the seller told me the starter was shot or at least that is what the local stealership told him. I believe it was just a low battery. Ranit through all the gears and reverse and they're all fine. It still breaks up real bad about half throttle. It seems to run a little better with the choke on. So I assume it is lacking fuel. I set the air/fuel mix screw at 2 1/2 out like I read in the online manual. That did not help. I had it adjusted from 1/4 turn out to about 4 turns out and nothing helped. I believe I am going to take the carb off again and really give it a good cleaning. I may even take all the small parts and run them through an ultrasonic cleaner. I'll report back when that is done. Overall, I am REALLY digging this Big Red though. The trunk is huge. I could probably fit a twelve pack in there. I was reading and found that the headlight comes off and has alot of cord so you can use it for a spotlight. This is something I never knew. Also like the fact that it has a kickstarter backup. Never have to worry about leaving the light on and not being able to start it. I believe we arein for a warm up and I may get it out and give it a real good cleaning this week. This will deffinately be my main ride for trails from now on.

The quote of the day rite there ahe Rick', so that's gonna complete your collection for now, who do you think your talking too..On a serious note I gotta say( YOU SUCK), That is a super nice machine rite there, since I got mine it's pretty much all I like too bomb around on when i'm trailriding. It ride's like a caddy and you'll love the torque, bottomline there isn't much bad stuff to say about the 250 Big Red's IMO.That light is a beautiful thing as a spotlight and it's super bright too.Nice score for sure..Now you got a real nice trike to hit the shower's with at TF..Question : Are you claining it as your's or is Dawn gonna take it over  I guess now you can get rid of the 200S and the 110 or are ya gonna still keep them also?

Roger, I officially gave the 200S to Dawn.
I just pulled the carb and gave it a good cleaning again. If anyone has ever used an ultrasonic cleaner then you know, THEY ARE THE SHIZNIT! I was afraid to poke too much on the main jet so I thought it was clean. I stuck it in the cleaner and all this crap comes flying out of it. Man it was really clogged. Getting it back together now and hope all is good. For those of you that do alot of carb work I rocommend getting a ultrasonic cleaner. They are cheap on ebay. I (well the wife) has jsut a small one that was cheap and real nice for carb parts.
P.S. Don't tell your wife if you're gonna use hers.

I think Dawn is REALLY going to like the BigRed as her pit trike :)
I will make her a custom front tool box for it so she has something to put her stuff in for TrikeFest 2110, like the one i made for my BigRed.
yep, its gonna make HER a real nice TF rider. Great score !

Well, last year at Sandpuppi's Rose City Ride we had alot of 350X's there. There are a good amount of Big Red's too. This will be my ride for next year. Watch for a thread and come up.

Finally got to take it out for a little spin around the field today. Threw the wife on the back and headed out. Handled like a dream. Could'nt even tell a passenger was on there. Two words. LOVE IT. Hopefully we'll be able to get out to ATCTim's in pennsylvania at the end of the month for some real riding.
