Yesterday a 60 year old man was on his 250 big red and went over a 100 foot enbankment. On the news it showed the bike and it seemed to be in great shape other than bent racks from it flipping. I found it strange that they never blamed it on the trike, although they said after inspection it was in good runnig condition. Since it wasnt the bikes fault, it must have been something that the rider done, he had heart problems too. Anyone from NL on here know this guy? RIP

I don't know him, but the reporter on the NTV news said that "he was fondly remembered, often riding around on his Big Red". His driveway was directly across the road from the cliff, they said the engine was revving loudly as he went over. Poor guy.

I hope his throttle didn't stick!! These automatics with stuck throttles don't give you much reaction time!! No clutch to pull in............

Sad story, esp for his family........

I dont know him but I did spend a bit of time out there. Almost everyone out there like back home ride there atc's or atv's on the roads. Sad story indeed. But atleast he was doing his thing and enjoy his bike all the time.

I hate to hear stories like this. It's the kind of thing that gives the haters ammunition. Sounds like DC's thought was right...I'll bet the throttle stuck. Makes me think about when I take my son riding on our property and I goose the throttle as we approach the river. It's an 8-foot drop off a cliff to the water, and a sticking throttle has never occurred to me. Maybe 8-feet wouldn't be fatal, but I wouldn't really care to find out just how well me and my son and trike would do flying off the edge.

As far as the "at least he died doing something he loved" sentiments...I'm going to have to go with Jim Mac on this one. I'd love to be able to get a ride in on my dying day, but not to die ON my trike!

Sorry to hear. Reminds me of this guy from the investigation data posted in another thread:

A 70 YEAR OLD MAN WAS DRIVING A THREE-WHEELED ATV AT 40-45 MILES PER HOUR IN AN AREA OF SAND DUNES. AFTER ASCENDING A DUNE WHICH WAS APPX. 12 FEET HIGH HE CRESTED THE DUNE AND BECAME AIRBORNE FOR APPX. 30 FEET. WHEN THE ATV STRUCK THE GROUND THE DRIVER BECAME A THROWN RIDER. THE ATV DID A FLIP-FORWARD & LANDED ON THE DRIVER'S HEAD. HISHEAD INJURIES PROVED FATAL.

At least he went doing what he loved!
