So I have an 84 200m that I can't get registerd. DMV wants more past history than I can provide cause I got bill of sale only and PO's are long gone since 84 and no one ever botherd to registerd it so DMV has no record... :( So I am looking to swap it into a 200x 83/85. I believe it is a physcial swap in with slight mod to brakes beside wiring harness right?

You are right, you have to modify the brake pedal and extend a couple of wires from the CDI I believe. There is an article on how to do it from dirtwheels or something, just search for auto-x.

Have artical thx, was just confirming as I know it is almost straight swap for the 200s/185. Just never heard of a 200m. Will be sweet to have an autox with electric start for the wife who cannot pull the recoils over by hand. Many others done it?

if u use the electric start motor i think u have to modify the front downtube to clear the starter.

Yeah, it deffinatly dosnt fit like the 185/200s' do. The one I seen sat at an angle, because of the bulky electric starter in the front. Does the 200m also have the hi/low? If I remembered right, this swap had the hi/lo in the 200x, and there was no clearance issue there, just with the starter issue. It can be made to fit with not too much effort, but to what expense to the downtube? Good luck, and keep us posted.

I did the swap with a 185 motor, the wireing is about the same just got to extend some wires, I made my brake pedal from a 350x pedal, 2 small tie rods and a threaded rod. You will have to notch the frame for the ele start and wire the ele start other wise its pretty straight forward.

if you carefully cut the piece out of the down tube you can turn it around and weld it back in
