ok i have a ytm 200 motor sitting in my garage it ran no smoker good compression but only ran it for a couple seconds so i was thing about "freshing it up" so i could use it in the future if mine ever goes out. where could i get the parts like a gasket set, piston, camshaft if needed, bearings, stuff like that. what would yall recommend doing...i dunno if i should reuse parts like the camshaft, valves stuff like that or completely replace parts like that. what kind of performance could i do it...porting, performance camshaft, boring it over. i know its a very broad post...what would yall do.

GOOD LUCK, I have been tring and not much luck. Can you believe the Yamaha dealer near me only had nuts bolts, and washers! And one PINK brake cover. The nuts and bolt were $4 bucks each and the washers were $1.50 each! Not in this life time. I believe your going to have to visit several sites to find each indivigual parts, and still it will be tuff. One suggestion in your serch that may be helpfull, is instead of using Google or Yahoo search engines. Try dogpile engine search. Dogpile is a search engine that combines several search engines in one search, like Google, Bing, Ask, and Yahoo all in one search! Hope this helped you, and let me know of your progress! P.S. Dennis Kirk suks for Yamaha parts!!!!!

Yeah it is a braod post. Performance upgrades are a little limmited on the YTM motors and can get pricy.
Since you don’t really know the history of the motor I would be taking it apart to inspect bearings before ordering parts. I have a spare motor I am doing the same thing with. I ended up pulling it apart and cleaning everything, then repacing the shift return springs, clutch friction plates, piston and rings. I also reseated the valves. New gaskets and valve dseals are a must.

You can get aftermarket cams for these, I haven’t tried one of these yet. I would recommend pulling yours and checking it, the aluminum bushing on the sprocket end, and the inside cam journal. The inside cam journal and rockers can wear out if the motor is run on low oil. The rockers should be rounded where they ride on the cam, if there are flate spots they should be replaced (I have noticed the sprocket side tends to go first).

wow thats a good website thanks monroemike. i also found a site called cheapcycleparts.com that has some engine part. i keep thinking more and more about it and im leaning towards just going though it and making shure every thing is within specs. i might look into a performance cam for it i seen a link on this forum before if i could find it again, but my 200 is pretty darn fast at the moment stock. if i bore it a tad bigger would it be better it i get a tab bit bigger jet
