I just bought an 85 250r motor last week that needs some work and only two spots on the cases is broke on the top of the bottom case, like where the cylinder goes bolts down to and the sleeve slides in, the front two tabs off the inner left and right case are broke off. Can you just build it up to make a new tab there thats broke off? Or would I need to find another piece of aluminum to put in there to weld to it?

Also the guy I bought it from said if you dont weld something back there the chamber compression will be different somehow. Is that true?

What flows in those front and rear tabs on the bottom top case anyways? oil or water? I would think water

Thanks, sorry for not getting a picture of what I'm talking about to make it clearer.

Cool thanks, I just happen to have an old clutch basket sitting around.

One more question, does it matter how rounded or flat the piece is that I would be welding in?
