depends on what type of Banshee, Stock?, modified a little or a lot? stock banshee's, a 250r will give it a good run for its money. But the most common banshee has aftermarket pipes, pistons, carbs, airfilters. some port and polish. so to beat a mild built banshee that includes above
you can do basically the same.
Start with
Pipe and silencer
High volume airfilter
bigger piston
port and polish
CR head gasket
rejetted carb or bigger carb
just with those mods you will beat 98% of the bikes out there. And you can do those mods plus some misc. stuff for about a grand. but worth it. Just a banshee exhaust system costs up to $600 and a mild port and polish with two Weisco pistons is another $500-600. so the 250r is a cheaper bike to build.
if you want to really go fast, let me know and I will list all of the mods I have on my 85 250r.

I have an 83 250R and was down at the local dunes and there was a kid down there with a banshee and all it had was pipes. I was actually pulling on him til he got to sixth gear. I don't know if he just didn't know how to drive it or what. Thats why I want to get an 85 or 86 so that I'll have the six speed.

THERE is easier way spend $1500 and install a cr500 in your trike .. then you don't have to worry about ANY banshees at all..... un less they spend $15,000 all they see, are three wheeler tail lights!!!!!!!
